My mom recently moved to Boston. When she did she created an email address for us to send each other "letters". This illustration was inspired by one of her letters to me:

"My second highlight, I saved a turtle. I was walking Porter to pick up some packages from the mail box and then all of a sudden I see out of the corner of my eye.... a poor turtle flailing on its back. It was swinging its legs trying to right itself. I went straight to it and picked him up.. it was so pretty underneath. I just looked it up. It was a Painted Turtle. Here is a picture I found on the web. I didn't take the time to take a photo of it because I felt the whole experience was overwhelming for it. After I picked it up, Porter and I walked to the retention pond and placed him next to it. That is when it popped its head out. I believe it was thankful for the assist. "
