Hi! My name is Rebecca Dylan Viale
I was born and raised in Monaco and moved to Colorado when I was 15. Since I was a child, I have been obsessed with animation from Disney to Studio Ghibli. I was extremely artistic from a young age and always knew that I wanted to incorporate it into my career.
Like many people in their twenties, I have been searching for what I should do in my life. I went to college straight out of high school as a first-generation scholar and graduated in 2019 with a BA in Humanities, Philosophy, and English Literature. I knew I wanted to work with and for people but never knew how that would work practically. I worked in the service industry while and after college, first as a host and ending my restaurant career as a bar manager. At the beginning of the pandemic, I was hired by a non-profit affordable housing company as an Executive Admin. Assistant which was a role that included many responsibilities from helping with resident relocation during renovations, helping with new building lease-ups, and processing applications and renewals for residents in compliance with LIHTC regulations.
In 2021, after both my father and my husband's father passed away, my husband and I decided to sell all our belongings, quit our jobs, and travel through Mexico and Costa Rica in search of our place in the world and which careers we were meant to pursue. After receiving our TEFL certification in Manuel Antonio, CR we moved to Oaxaca, Mexico where we taught English online through 'Cambly' and researched what would be next.
This is where I discovered UX/UI Design. It was as if a lightbulb went off in my head the more I researched the subject. This profession checked every box. It incorporated my artistic desires, and the empathetic nature I had developed and longed for, and it allowed me to help my fellow human as well as use my degree in a meaningful way. I went straight to work starting the Google UX Design Professional certification which I am now two courses away from finishing.
Since then I worked for CGI’s HCx as a Product Designer for two years before transitioning back to the digital nomad life and starting my freelance career. Currently, I am a remote freelancer working with clients while traveling through Mexico and South East Asia.
